Birthday Blog Lovin'

Happy Birthday Kristina

Well yes, folks - today's ma' birthday. I'm one year closer to the big 3-0. Time flies! It seems like just yesterday I was in my mother's womb...filming a vlog and thinking, "This will make a great blog post!"

But in all seriousness, today might actually prove to be a miserable one: I'm starting a very tough rotation at work, I'm on day shift for 12 hours while my husband is on night shift, which means we won't even see each other until tomorrow night! :( So no b-day celebrations or kisses or dinner. But you know what would truly make my day? Read on!

In case you haven't heard, Google is killing yet another of its services - however unfortunately this one is much more heartbreaking to its users. It is officially shutting down Google Reader on July 1, 2013. They cite their reasoning being that its readership is declining, and they want to devote more energy into fewer products. I guess the Google butter is spreading itself too thinly on its cracker.

But I'm not all that upset about it. Why? Because I never liked Google Reader in the first place. I disliked how clunky it was, and the frame-within-a-frame interface painfully grated on my aesthetic sensibility. I've always used one modality since its inception: bloglovin'.

Why do I prefer bloglovin'? It is simple, really. It is incredibly easy to use. It allows you to follow Blogspot and Wordpress blogs alike (ANY blog on ANY platform, for that matter); furthermore, bloglovin' is incredibly well designed and user-friendly--and they are constantly updating the site to the latest W3C standards and technologies; finally, it lets me click through the latest posts from the blogs I follow in a minimalist setup (I'm referring to the bloglovin' bar) rather than an array of frames.

If you have been using Google Reader to keep track of all the blogs you follow, please don't despair. I invite you, whether or not you're coming from Reader, to sign up for bloglovin' and transfer your feeds. Bloglovin' is making it really simple to do, and it wants to have you as its user.

Step 1: Sign up for bloglovin' (you can even just one-click with your Facebook account).

Step 2: Navigate your blog-reading-self over to bloglovin.com/import/reader

Step 3: Click the button to import, and sign into your Google account to authorize the transfer.

Done! Now you can read all of your favorite blogs on your computer, or even your iPhone (yep, there's an app for that).

It would truly make my day if you would follow PSS via Bloglovin'. I'm trying to let my readers know about the changes to Google and to provide one unified place where we can all read blogs together. I've believed in bloglovin' from the start, and I'm so happy to see how far it has come. Thanks so much for being a reader! It's people like you that keep me chuggin' along!

Follow on Bloglovin

By the way, this was not a sponsored post. I just really like bloglovin' and couldn't figure out what to write about for my birthday post...so I figured it may as well be a post that is useful to some of you, instead of the "look-at-me-I'm-special-today" routine.
