Out The Door

What I'm Wearing

  • Bag: c/o Twisted Orchid
  • Scarf: c/o Obakki
  • Striped oxford camp shirt, skinny belt: Forever 21
  • Jeans: 7 for All Mankind
  • Platforms: Target

Keys in hand, caught on camera - strike a pose! I'm loving this ginormous yellow tote from Mad Bags (via Twisted Orchid). It stole the show in most of the photos from this post because it's such a pale yellow color that really pops. Tons of pockets and lavish belting - which I also love in a bag..

And it's animal-friendly.

I'm a Texan, so you don't hear animal-friendly too often around here (unless you live in Austin). I don't go out of my way to eat tofu or salads regularly (who am I kidding, I'm a meat-and-potatoes girl thanks to the combined powers of my Texan/Norwegian heritage).

I also love this scarf - although it's too bad it's hotter than Hades right now to really wear it for any practical use - but it's very sheer and airy. I'd been meaning to try the whole looped-scarf trend (albeit a bit late in the game). It's part of the Obakki foundation collection, so 100% of the proceeds of every purchase goes toward things like mosquito nets in Africa, water purification, books for children, etc. Makes you feel warm and fuzzy!

I'm also obsesssed with camp shirts. I've worn them since high school, trends-be-damned! Glad to see they're popular again, now. If only because I get a bigger selection to choose from!

What do you think of: bright bags, camp shirts, and the scarf-loop trend?

This look was chosen by FabSugar as the Look of The Day on April 30th 2010. FabSugar called it "Crisp Americana" - I couldn't agree more and I'm so flattered & honored! Thanks FabSugar!
