Petite Fashion Blogs

Taking a break from the norm, I thought I would share with you one of my guiltiest pleasures: petite style blogs. As a petite person myself at a diminutive 5'2" tall, I am regularly on the hunt for that perfect-fitting petite sized piece. And, you may be surprised to know, petite doesn't mean you have to be size 00. All it relates to is height. That's why you'll find a variety of sizes for any item of clothing that comes in a petite size.

What does it mean? Armholes are higher up, hemlines are shorter, tailoring is nipped in at a higher level. Sleeves are shorter. Tops and jackets are shorter. All to reflect the shorter proportions of the petite person's frame. Love! What do you need to qualify as petite? There's no law out there (yet, haha) but the hard and fast rule is you are considered petite if you are 5'4" and under. Read on to discover some of Pretty Shiny Sparkly's favorite petite fashion blog finds.

Wendy's Lookbook | wendyslookbook.com

Wendy's Lookbook is a force to be reckoned with. She's super friendly, amazingly creative (check out her out of this world YouTube channel) and she has a whole lot of heart (just read her About page). I love the format of her posts, and outfit credits are easy to find and eloquently described.

Extra Petite | extrapetite.com

Jean's website, Extra Petite, is absolutely lovely. Clean, minimalist design puts the focus on her outstanding outfit photos. And I love how she takes pictures of petite (and non-petite) clothing and accessories she buys, always providing a coupon code or sale news for those of us on a budget. She also give honest reviews, and isn't afraid to let us know when she returned something and why (like her recent J.Crew townhouse coat purchase).

I Am Style-ish | iamstyle-ish.com

Tiffany's blog is another that has cohesive design, with excellent photography. (Notice a pattern, here?) It doesn't hurt that she and her husband are a wedding photography team in their own right, in addition to their day jobs. I love how Tiffany injects pops of color (not infrequently pink, which gets brownie points from me) into everyday outfits.

her waise choice | herwaisechoice.com

Jen is Canadian petite fashion blogger and her site is so lovely: clean, simple, and the focus is on the content. I think that we can all take a page out of Jen's book on that alone. But she's also a very lovely person. We follow each other on Instagram, which is how I found her site, and she takes a killer photograph, people. Plus, her sense of style is classic, fun, and always reinventing itself.

cute & little | cuteandlittle.com

Last but certainly not least is Kileen, of cute & little. She's a Texan petite, like myself, so I can't help but identify with her. And she has the most enviable bag collection, like, ever! I found her through her participation in Bloggers Do It Better, and I'm so glad I did. She is eloquent, her site is well designed, and her outfits are top-notch (plus always work friendly). She's a classy lady, y'all.
