Second Skin

Like a Glove

The easiest way to make myself feel like a million bucks is slip on a pair of well-fitting, flattering, comfortable jeans. It can instantly perk my mood up, and make me look good & feel good even on a "fat day"*. I had the privilege of designing this pair of hand-made custom jeans by Indi Custom, suited to my specific measurements, body shape (even booty shape!), and the style I was going for. I opted for a wide hem, high-waisted flare jean with subtle sanding on the thighs, classic back pockets, slit pockets in the front and a double tab waistband. The result is my new favorite jean. The material is thick and higher quality than even my 7 for all mankinds and Paige pairs. I know it will last and last and last...which is great because I plan on wearing these all the time!

*Hey, we all have them, no matter our size or shape!

Cost per Wear (AKA Rationalization)

The cost is $165, which is less or equal to a standard pair of designer denim (but I've seen designers' prices increase to well above $200 in recent seasons). The cost per wear is going to be way, way less than my other designer jeans, however. For one thing, I didn't need to have it hemmed. It's customised to fit my personal inseam length. It will last longer, and since it fits the best on me than all my other pairs, I'm definitely going to wear it more--all of which decrease my cost per wear.

Mikimoto

Another significant piece to my outfit today is my Mikimoto for Japan Relief pendant. I am honored to wear this pendant which was designed by Mikimoto, whom we all know as the only name that matters in pearls. The pendant will be available for three days only (Jun 22 thru Jun 24) on their Facebook page, and at their retail stores & online thereafter. All net proceeds will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross! Remember Japan's needs don't cease just because news coverage does.

My love of NARS Pure Matte in Carthage continues, and my new favorite nail polish trend has been sheer nude-pinks (here I'm wearing Essie in "Ballet Slippers") which complement my most prized possession (and sparkliest accessory) nicely. Now, if I could just stop staring at the darn thing, I might be able to get some work done around here!
