Style Maven Joanna Hillman - By Peace.Love.Sarcasm

Guest Blogger: Jenna | Peace.Love.Sarcasm

While I'm in Norway for the holidays I've asked a few select bloggers to host Pretty Shiny Sparkly until my return. Please give Jenna a warm welcome with your comments! xoxo -- Kristina

Hey girl hey!  I'm Jenna and I was literally dying of excitement when PSS asked me to guest post for her while she was out being fabulous. But have no fear, I am alive again. I write Peace.Love.Sarcasm but haven't been keeping up much because I'm a finalist for the Sunglass Hut Full Time Fabulous blogger competition.  See? Oh! And psst, follow me on Twitter because it's fun and makes me feel importante.

Though I adore reading personal style blogs, I am not a personal style blogger.  So instead of torturing you by making you look at my outfits that aren't nearly as cool as y'all's, I thought I would bring you guys a few pictures of one of my style favorites: Joanna Hillman.

In the day and age of fashion blogging, we are now given a great behind-the-scenes look at magazine editors.  Before, we only saw their names in the masthead of the magazine.  Now, we get to see the style behind the style.

Joanna Hillman is the senior fashion market editor for Harper’s Bazaar.  Her style is glorious and I hope you agree.

Whether she's pairing a gigantic Helmut Lang scarf with tailored, wide-leg trousers or mixing prints with a Proenza Schouler striped tee with a leopard print vest, Joanna can make anything look good.  I love her eclectic-yet-not-weird look.  She doesn't look like she's trying too hard.  And she doesn't look like she just threw on three thousand weird things so she would get shot for a street style blog on the cobblestone streets of the Meatpacking District.

She often wears her long blond hair in an Alexander Wang-esque braid, or down and over one shoulder.   Her signature Ray Ban shades can often be found on her face, which is shocking- I know.  I adore when she wears bright orange lipstick and it is what inspired me to try new lipstick shades.  I used to be all about the light pink and nudes, but bright orange?  On a blonde?  I was scared, but Joanna wears it and owns it.

My favorite of these outfits is her Gryphon coat with the fur collar and the print Thakoon dress.  This is totally something I would wear... if I were a fashion editor with access to sample sales and magazine closets and happen to be super tall and thin.  You know, just another Tuesday.
