It was Autumn 2009 when my love of camel-colored wool coats began. The affair ignited when Zara debuted a gorgeous, slimming, buttonless, slash-pocketed beauty that absolutely had to be mine. I added it to my shopping cart, but couldn’t pull the trigger. The price was too high for an impulse buy. I waited weeks, determined to buy it if the desire remained. It did, but it dawned on me that it would be the perfect gift for my husband (then-boyfriend) to purchase for me that Christmas, since I’m notoriously hard to shop for and tend to already own anything I needed. But alas, the coat and I would never be one, as it had sold out online and in stores by the time my well-meaning future spouse shopped around. I was crushed, but I was certain it would come back the next year. When it didn’t, I trolled endless other online shops, for years, hoping to find the right one. In one idle moment of desperation, I wondered fleetingly if Blair would sell me hers off her back, but thankfully that moment of temporary insanity lasted a mere millisecond.
When I saw Zara’s 2013 version, I didn’t hesitate. Sure, it had buttons, and sleeves and lengths would inevitably need to be tailored on my short frame, but the lines were there and it had a classic shape. Happily, I’m picking it up from the tailor’s today (follow me on Instagram to see a snap of it on, later this afternoon!). It inspired me to beg the question to you, dear reader: how do you wear your winter coat?
Of course, my predilection for camel coats shouldn’t limit us to one color. That’s why I’m (finally) setting up another BDIB challenge: wool coats!
As always, post a new outfit wearing your wool/winter coat to your blog, referencing Bloggers Do It Better, and on Friday October 25th, link your blog post up here to the link-up that will be present on that day. As always, have fun!

Ooh! Exciting. It’s been so long. I just got a little ZARA number, myself that I’d love to share!
Like the leopard print best!
Love that Zara coat! Very tempted to get the 2013 version…the leopard & red coats were also beautiful. I hate cold weather, but being able to wear coats is a wonderful thing.
Love this hope it stays cool enough in Houston!!!

Is there a variation of this for those of us that live in the Sunshine State. Would love to participate but we’re still in the upper 80’s down here & wool…well, that’s just not going to happen 🙁
I think a lightweight trench might be an option for those of you in warmer climates!
Yahooooo! My first challenge– I’m so excited 😀

Love that coat so much.
Such a beautiful coat. Too bad I’d look like a nut if I wore that on this island. 🙁
Great theme. Although it is so not coat weather here in southern CA, will have to see what I can put together….Daphne.
Hello! I just added my link to the bloggers do it better challenge but I don’t quite understand how to add a “link up” back to you, so I submitted it anyway. 🙂 xx
