…But Baby It’s Cold Outside

I promised myself when I wrote this post that I would not gush insanely about how much I love this dress. I slipped it over my head, tied the sash, and was immediately in love. Kristin Hassan is a fashion designer–not to mention PSS reader!–whose S/S 2011 line I was already familiar with when she contacted me. (Hi Kristin!!) I immediately knew which dress I wanted to wear — the Vita dress — so gorgeous!! This print in particular reminds me a lot of the Kate Moss for Topshop dress but far more fun and definitely a more flattering cut.

See? I told myself I wouldn’t gush and I did anyway. Oh well, it could have been far worse!!

These days I’ve been keeping accessories down to a few simple essentials, such as my big gold watch and a single bangle. The dress and shoes are so much fun that it wasn’t really necessary to accessorize with much.

Can you see the goosebumps? The day was deceptively cold – I stepped out onto my balcony and felt the warm sun and, thinking it wouldn’t be too bad, left my coat at home. As soon as we stepped outside, BAM! Icy winds and f-f-f-freezing in the shade! Oh well, lesson learned.

Don’t ever be afraid to mix textures and prints! Just do so within moderation.

I still love my Marc Jacobs cat-eye sunnies! Shop Bop sold out of them, though, so you may have to look elsewhere for them – I left a link to the Marc Jacobs website in the outfit credits so you can find them if you want. Perhaps a wishlist? Along with the Kristin Hassan dress? I’d say it’s the quickest path to feeling and looking chic there is!!

P.S. – We went ring shopping that day.

  • You look SMASHING! I was immediately caught by the print of the dress, before even noticing you were gushing about it… and now I can see why you were. And those sheos? My gawd. Have you had problems with the studs falling off? I've heard complaints about similar shoes….

    • Hey Ashe! A few studs have fallen off here and there, but it's mainly my fault, knocking my feet together sometimes. Thanks so much for your sweet comments you sweet girl!

  • kristina, So cute. You should wear those shoes ever minute of your life! Great outfit, super cute dress and it will be darling in the summer too!

    • Thanks! They are fantastic & comfortable shoes, and surprisingly easy to walk in!

  • Jess Kay Designs

I love the color combinations on the dress, the watercolor floral pattern and definitely the cut/shape of the dress – very flattering!
Ring shopping!?! Aren't you a lucky girl!

    • Jess – yep, lucky. very lucky. 🙂

      • Jess

What type of ring style are you looking for? I just helped my sister-in-law pick hers out, so I might be able to send some ideas your way, since I've seen a bunch in the last few months… she decided on a Scott Kay (halo around the diamond and split shank). Mine is a vintage style Tacori with engraving and my birthstones on either side of the diamond…So, ya, I like rings 🙂

  • Those shoes are dynamite!

    • Thanks Sally! I heart them. 🙂

I was so excited when I saw this dress! Kristin is a good friend of mine and I love her clothes! and that's so funny you talk about the kate moss dress! When I saw it on WWW last week I forwarded it to her and said great minds think alike and buy similar fabric! ;)You look fabulous in that dress!!

    • Isn't Kristin awesome?? Yeah she is actually the one who forwarded me the image of the WWW email so I just had to share it!! It must have been from you!! Thanks girl!

  • Ahh, I love Kristin Hassan and I LOVE this dress on you! Sooo pretty! And you did an amazing job mixing prints & patterns here, perfectly balanced! Another favorite outfit of yours, for sure!

    • Thank you Kate! Mixing prints still (and will always) induce a little bit of sweaty palms and palpitations in me, but I'm getting more comfortable with it as time goes on!

  • love love love your bag and shoes 🙂

    • Grazie, bella! (Did i say that right? I know absolutely no italian…lol)

AMAZING! I Adore this dress, and the styling with the leopard print flats. OH, and you can't get away so easy with your little PS there missy!!!! AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

    • Haha AWWW thanks girl! It was a super fun time, best time I've ever had shopping… 😉

  • Ooo love the dress!! It is so flattering on you … sorry it ended up being so cold outdoors when you were taking the pics.Ring shopping?!?! What kind, where, omg why am I hearing of this now????!!! =P

    • It was our first time to go looking, just getting a feel for my style (oh who am I kidding I know exactly what style I want…just need to find the ring that's in my head lol) and we definitely found some possibilities! lolI did have fun trying on rings that had price tags larger than some luxury sedans…

  • Morgan and Lua

Whattttttttttttttt ring shopping?! You think you can just slip that one in there?? Well at least I can say that you looked pretty darn cute to be trying on rings all day. Lucky lady. 🙂

    • Haha….yep, ring shopping! I'm giggly like a schoolgirl. So much fun!!
Interesting you mention the outfit for ring shopping – I wanted to look nice, particularly because I didn't want a Pretty Woman situation…in which we are not taken seriously because we are young and wearing jeans and tee shirts. In the end I think it paid off because we got excellent service! (Well, except at Zales and Gordon's…those places SUCKED!)

  • This is my most favorite outfit that you have worn yet – you just look perfect! The dress, the tights, the shoes, the color of your lips! I just love it all!
P.S. Can you please send some engagement vibes my way? :)~ CONGRATS!!!

    • Haha sure, but we're not engaged yet (i almost wrote engagement…i am retarded) – just looking! i told HB if I have to wear a ring (well, two) for the rest of my life, i had better like it!
heck, i'm so hard to shop for I have to wishlist everything or I'll probably hate it. so picking out my favorite rings is pretty much essential! we'll be going to other places later as well, so the hunt is still on!

  • so exciting that you went ring shopping!!! and beautiful dress, the print is so eye catching.

  • Natalie

I've been waiting a KH / PSS mashup. This dress is so flattering on you! I've been eyeing the Jaclyn dress since Kristin put the new line up!
And ooooh! Ring shopping! I'm so excited for you. Can't wait to make that trip myself! My boyfriend (of 6 YEARS) mentioned how he heard on the radio that more and more couples are going engagement right shopping together as opposed to the traditional SURPRISE. I am SO on board with that. =P

  • Anette

this dress is so pretty! the color and the print are perfect! you look great dahling 🙂 i really enjoy your blog. it's great to see another Houston blogger out there!!!
