Identity and Motherhood

When you become a mother, something inexplicable happens. ¬†I’ve mentioned this before in a previous post, and on my Instagram, but your identity changes. ¬†For me it wasn’t overnight, but instantly there was that sense of overwhelming unconditional love when my daughter was born. ¬†It’s so clich√© but it’s clich√© because it’s true. ¬†Instantly there is another human in the world who you would give your life to save, and she doesn’t even know your name (yet). How & Why I’ve Changed

If you looked at videos I filmed exactly one year from today, and compared them to now (the end of 2017 and the beginning of 2018) – I’m sure you could tell there is a drastic difference in my persona. How? Well, for starters, I was actually quite miserable in 2016. ¬†HB and I had basically picked up, sold our house and moved across the country, leaving both of our families, all for the sake of HB’s fellowship. The friendships…

The Word of the Year 2017

When I look back on 2017 as it comes to a close, I’m amazed at how divided my attitude towards the year has been. On the one hand, I started off the year in a completely different state, away from friends & family, in a job that was grueling (more on that in an upcoming post). But then our little miracle happened. And it seemed that after that, everything started falling into place. I know there have been some major…

How to Help Victims of Hurricane Harvey

A word on the Houston Floods As a native and proud Houstonian, I’ve been through hurricanes and severe weather all of my life. But I’ve never seen the devastation, and overwhelming catastrophe that has been brought by Hurricane Harvey. Almost exactly 9 Years ago, Hurricane Ike brought HB and I closer together than we could have ever have imagined as we weathered out that storm together at the beginning of our fledgling relationship, and now, all these years later, catastrophic…

Baby Braly Gender Reveal

We are so beyond over the moon to announce that baby Braly, coming November 2017, is a GIRL! HB definitely called it. For some reason I, along with most of our families, thought we were having a boy! Only a rare few believed it would be a girl! We are SO EXCITED. We’ve picked out a name that we’re 99% sure we’re going to stick with, but won’t reveal until the day she arrives. As my Pappa said, “PSS Co…

Meet Leeloo

We are so overjoyed and ecstatic to bring a sister for Gidget into the Braly fold. ¬†We searched shelters for nearly a year to find Gidget the perfect playmate and companion, with no success. ¬†But when we stumbled upon this little girl, we immediately scooped her up and she hasn’t left our laps since. ¬†She’s sweet, funny, rambunctious, very playful, and has about a 75% success rate for potty training on the puppy pads–which is pretty good considering her age!…

The Beautiful Lengths Challenge

Working in the healthcare field, and especially this month since I'm currently rotating at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, it is all too apparent the effect that cancer has on more than just one's body. And then you start chemotherapy, which has its own set of hardships associated with it.

Certain types of chemotherapy result in total hair loss, and though it may seem trivial in the face of cancer, it is an outward symbol of a very personal, and very private battle for life. Some people want to keep that battle private, and not have their baldness be a label or beacon--while still others prefer to display their battle with gusto.

Currently: Bedside Table

When it comes to Spring cleaning, I actually totally dread it–but after I’m done, I’m so glad I forced myself to endure through the odious task of chucking out the old to make way for tidiness. I have a horrible habit of accruing things and never putting them away in their proper place. To get myself motivated each year, I begin with my bedside table. What you didn’t see was that before these shots were taken, I had amassed a…
