Denial Ain’t Just A River in Egypt

As a Texan girl who loves to layer, I staunchly refuse to bow to the demands of the weather. The iPhone said it was 54 degrees when I woke up so: yes to layers. And I stubbornly wore the entire ensemble throughout a day of errands and grocery shopping with [houston] despite the fact that the temperature crawled slowly up into the high 70’s.

I’m a huge 7 For All Mankind fan, and my new black wash trouser jeans (Dojo, for those familiar with the brand’s styles) are so, so awesome. Black so they can be dressed up, and big and fabulous and shoe-covering. You can’t even see my shoes here but they’ve made many appearances on the blog so I figured you wouldn’t miss them (seen here, for one).

  • Haha – I have been in reverse denial here in NY…wearing my spring pieces around as if it’s warm, when really it is like 30 degrees out. ๐Ÿ™ I say, whatever makes you happy! I am loving these jeans on you, btw – do you know if they come in “long” for us tall girls?

  • YAY for layering, even if gets too warm ๐Ÿ™‚ love the leather jacket!

  • The jacket is to die for! Adore. And DoJos are my favorite style of Sevens at the moment. I haven’t seen the black but may have to be investing in a pair soon!

  • Girl you are hilarious! That’s how much we layer in Toronto! And I know you are not getting Toronto type cold down there! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Doesn’t matter, you look cute!

  • I love all the layers, but that outfit in high 70’s!? I would be dying! I really like all the pieces you have here, leather jacket is fabulous, scarf is fun and whimsical, and the pants are my favorite style! I’m in the midst of losing weight, but when I get down to a good size I want these pants!

  • You look great! We love layers in SoCal–Every day, year round. Your jacket is amazing.

    • Alicia Schmidt

The humidity here won’t allow us to do that. So-cal weather would be so awesome!!

  • I love the scarf! You wear those jeans so well and I would also like to know if they come in tall.

  • I’ve been wanting black denim… I used to have a pair in college but unfortunately don’t know what happened to them! Such a great look and I love that scarf too! PS: Thanks for your sweet comment re: my hair!!! Made my morning. x

  • I love layering but I’m going to have to admit that I’m a little bit over it now! I’m hoping it warms up here in Texas soon!
Love your blog – it’s so nice to see such a successful blog from a fellow-Texan!

  • Wow, the 7 jeans look so luxe, almost like velvet. Retro bottoms. I love to layer but I end up taking off layer by layer. Texas weather is so odd.

  • This Vince Jacket is to die for. And the Dojo jeans are my faves from Seven. I’m definitely going to check out the black version!

  • Hi pretty lady! I too am a Seven loyalist. The Dojo’s are supremely flattering! You look pretty.

I can totally relate to weather problems. I live in Louisiana, and I wear tights almost every single day of winter, even if it’s 75 outside.

  • oooohhh… I love the pink top. It adds that extra pop of color! I really love your outfit! <3 although I can't wear that particular type of jeans. I'm so addicted with my skinnies!

  • Love the leather jacket! Unfortunately it’s 30 degrees here in the northeast so layering is a must:) I do love it though and would miss it if the weather was warmer all the time.

  • I feel your pain…I bought a slew of fun cold weather maternity clothes, only to never have winter reach us here in Tampa. Le sigh. Love the scarf!

  • Your layers are gorgeous, and for those of us who live in cold climates- this is a perfect outfit!

  • we're totally digging wide legs for spring. @PrttyShnySprkly does them right. http://t.co/x9ytIv2L
