Foot-Friendly & Oh So Cute

At a diminutive 5’2″ tall, you will rarely see this girl in shoes less than 2″ in height. In fact, I prefer towering platform stilts to flats most days. This, quite obviously, is not practical in the real “every day” world. So about a week ago after picking up some nourishing goodies for my hair (it’s angry at me for coloring it) at Sally Beauty Supply, I passed the display window of Payless and decided to hop inside and see if I could find myself some cute comfy flats for my work outfits.
I came out with four pairs–all $19.99 or less (most were $12.99, and the white ones were even less!). I needed brown and basic black to tie into my work wardrobe, and I thought white ones would be fun for anytime–I confess I just found an excuse to buy them because they were so unbelievably comfortable. I even wore them during my trip to Ft. Worth!

While I am not superwoman and just did a one-stop-shop thing at Payless (click here for their flats selection), there are tons of great inexpensive shoe outlets out there (Famous Footwear, DSW Warehouse, Rack Room Shoes…to name a few in my area).

What’s your go-to inexpensive shoe source (online doesn’t count)? Are you a heels person or a flats person?

  • Cute! I wish I liked flats, but I am just not a fan.

  • Not a fan of flats cuz they make me look stumpy but I do love payless. In michigan, man made materials clean up nicely in the winter!

    • Such a great point! Something we don't think of too often down here in Hades (aka Texas)

  • I really like those white ones! I need to do some shoe shopping after seeing these! I live in Dallas so we have places like DSW and the others you mentioned (which I love). I'm also 5'2 so I loveee wearing heals but for my everyday simple outfits comfy flats are sometimes necessary….i think I'll have to visit payless soon…

Cute flats! Definitely necessary some days, but at 5' 2 .5" I am a total heels girl! I suffer for fashion and great shoes!

  • I'm a heels girl for sure! I'm only 5 foot and i love brands like jessica simpson and paris hilton bc they put platforms in their heels! But now that i'm a momma, it's hard to juggle the car seat in stilettos. i found a pair of comfy nine west flats that i've learned to mix into my look tho: http://www.thenotsodesperatehousewife.com

I'm 5'8" and love heels but I, unfortunately, rarely get to sport them. Looks like I'm going to have to walk over to the local Payless for that white pair. Glad it's only 2 blocks away……and to hell with the no white after labor day.

  • Love, love, love my heels (especially my Baker 5-inch yellow sandals that had my name literally written on it, style name was Katy). Wear them every day to work, even when I know I'll be on my feet all day, they make my legs look better. But I do love my flats when I'm running errands on the weekend. Always in gold or leopard print. 🙂

  • I'm a flats girl all the way. At 5'11", that's just how I roll. Plus, I can't walk in heels to save my life! 🙂

I actually just ordered the Feebe in Red and the Eden in black a few days ago! Can't wait for them to get here!

  • many many years ago, I had those millie flats in red from Payless. I loved them, though they fit very wide. I'm a huge fan of fun, cute, chic flats. ESPECIALLY for my office.

  • I am petite (5'3"), and although I love platforms, I still prefer the comfort of flats for daily wear. As a stylist, I am on my feet shopping almost every day or hauling clothes to a set. I have quite a collection of flats of all varieties. My favorite places for inexpensive flats are Target and Ross. Last week on a shoot I used a VERY cute pair of multicolor flats with a business type outfit. They were perfect! Hopefully I will get those photos posted to my blog in a week or two. Check them out.

  • I like a good mix of flats and heels. Payless never lets me down, though I admit I buy the majority of my shoes at thrift stores (and wear after a good cleaning!!).

Personally I am a heels girl myself but after looking over this post I find myself suddenly wanting to go buy a pair of flats. I am just afraid though that guys will be turned off if I don't wear heels because I am only 5 feet tall. What do you all think? Do guys want a girl that is short or can I foot them with pumps?
