Hilton New York Fashion District

Annika and I spent our fabulous time in New York City exploring during the days and sleeping in the brand-new hotel digs, the Hilton New York Fashion District. Located on W 26th st between 8th & 7th (aka Fashion Avenue), it’s a cute little 200+ room full service hotel (complete with rooftop bar, restaurant, conference & meeting rooms, room service, and the best friggin housekeeping service I’ve ever experienced).

They are even social media-friendly, evidenced by their friendly tweet a few days before we left for NYC stating that they couldn’t wait for us to get there and enjoy our stay. Plus, the rates were totally reasonable. I don’t know why this is sounding like an advertisement, because it totally isn’t. I just really liked this hotel. I’m a hotel snob and refuse to stay anywhere with dingy dated decor, I just feel gross in those types of places. And, let’s face it, New York hotels are often either: posh + pricey, or budget-friendly + barely-tolerable. Our hotel was brand new (Feb 2011), chic, and well-located for the fashion fun. We will definitely be back.

The only qualms I had, were I wished that we had a better view (okay, ANY view at all, since our window overlooked other people’s apartment windows and a water tower, across from an alley). Also, the WiFi wasn’t free (or even cheap, at $14.95 per friggin day). But the rooms were impressively clean from top to bottom, the staff was amazing and always super friendly, the flat screen TV was the bomb, and I loved the cute fashionable decor.

What are your favorite hotels to stay at in New York City (or anywhere in the world, for that matter)? What’s the most fabulous hotel you’ve ever stayed in?

For me, the most fabulous hotel I ever stayed in was the Four Seasons in Austin, Texas. It even beat out the Venetian in Las Vegas – solely for its rooms. The most unbelievably luxurious suite…amazing linens…turn-down butler service (with an earpiece and everything). It was surreal!

My favourite NYC hotel is The Royalton – literally every single thing about it is fabulous.
I booked it as part of a package deal with British Airways and didn’t even realise I’d got a fantastic deal until I got home and looked into returning. Doubt I could ever afford to stay there again but I’d recommend 100%!

I love the Hudson in Midtown. Everyone has different traveling tastes and mine always involves following my fave designers (my day job) and Philipe Starck is bar none the BEST!! Gorgeous lobby, jaw droppingly innovative hotel bar, (albeit smallllll rooms), but the overall vibe totally makes up for it! One of my FAVE NYC experiences to date!
The Hilton looks amaze for mid-price! Those checkered walls speak for themselves…chic!

    Peace. Love. LOL!

Pelican Hill in Newport Beach- which was a gift from my parents. Holy best weekend ever!

I’m glad you posted this! My boy and I are hoping to make a visit to NYC/NJ next March for a few days for a little get away and I, like you, am not a fan of anything dingy. If the price was as reasonable as you suggest then I’ll definitely look into it. Thankyou so much for sharing. Any other suggestions?
PS- one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at was the Grand Rockies Resort in Canmore Alberta- my room was nicer than my apartment, it was ridiculoud. And the shower had a built in steamer and radio/cd player. Very cool and absolutely beautiful view in the heart of the rockies. Too bad I had food poisoning the last two days of my stay…

I love the Four Seasons Austin! Although Barton Creek Resort outside of Westlake is also gorgeous, and the W in Dallas is definitely an experience!Bisous,

    The decor is gorgeous.

Lets just say that my hotel stays in NY were less than stellar, but what would you expect for $90 a night. In Manhattan no less!! he hee..Anyways, I would’ve much preferred a gorgeous hotel like the Hilton. It sounds like you had an incredible experience!!
My favorite hotel thus far though was the Helix in DC. It’s just amazing and pretty and totally my style as far as eclectic modern interior design goes. Plus it was so centralized I hardly ever had to take the Metro to get places!

  8. So happy you posted this! Even though I from there, I still a “hotel girl” and would randomly stay somewhere just for the hell of it… mostly to get away and not be bothered, lol. I hadn’t heard about this, so I will def be checking it out!
    Great post!

I adore reading posts about posh hotels! I agree with you, I loove staying in “nice” hotels. 4 star or better! I think my most favorite hotel stay was at the Palazzo (the Venetian’s sister property!) I got a free upgrade since it was a slow season – to this immaculate, huuuge suite, and their customer service was amazing.

This place is super cute! I live in NYC, but I’ll certainly suggest to friends and visitors :-DHmm….the best hotel experience I’ve had was at the Luxe Manor in Hong Kong. Like you, I’m crazy about great decor and the rooms were just perfect. Aromatherapy in the lobby, a top notch restaurant, and impeccable service. I was head over heels in love!

We stayed at the Hilton Fashion District in June! I feel just about the same way as you do. Fun location, clean rooms, neat place. My favorite hotel from that trip though was the Hotel Andaz on 5th Avenue…. nothing like I’ve ever been to before!

I like the Waldorf Astoria in NYC. I am going to see about staying at the Hilton Fashion District next time!

I absolutely love The Hotel at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. I live in NYC so I don’t ever stay in hotels here. So my East Coast pick would have to be The Water Club at The Borgata in Atlantic City – love!!

Oh and I can’t forget The Hyatt in Aruba – amazing!
