I ♥ New York

Ladies and gentlemen, I have flown the coop. I’m leaving for NYC tonight to participate in some of the leading conferences of our kind. I cannot wait. This will be my first official visit to NYC, a place I have dreamed of visiting since I was a teen. HB, who has traveled to NYC several times, is crushed that he will not be able to accompany me on my maiden voyage to the land of my dreams, but I’ve promised him tons of picture texts & phone calls.

I’ve also promised myself I will see as much of NYC on my day off (Feb 9th) between the conferences as possible. Though lofty, my hypothetical goals include (in no particular order):

  • Statue of Liberty
  • MOMA
  • Central Park & Strawberry Fields (HB and I are big John Lennon fans)
  • Soho
  • Times Square
  • Coach (hiya Bleecker Street girls!!), Topshop, H&M, B&H Photo Video
  • eat a macaron for the first time
  • eat a NYC cupcake
  • Frrrrozen Hot Chocolate @ Serendipity

Oh, who am I kidding–I’ll probably only get to the ones that involve food or shopping.

See you when I get back!

PS: On my last trip to NYC, I got to take the Sex and the City tour courtesy of YOU! So its only karma that you'll have a fantastic trip 🙂

  6. 02.07.2011 / 11:07 am

I would put everything else on the list top priority over Statue of Liberty (as ironic as that sounds) just because since it's such a huge touristy spot and I heard they recently closed off the tour to the top … (at least they did the last time I was there in 2007-2008). Otherwise, have a fantastic trip, honey!! And aside from fashion itself, don't forget to eat lotsa good food while you're there too, soooo many different cultural places you can explore hehe

i'm so envious!!! i moved out of new york a few months ago and miss it!
if there are long lines to statue of liberty just walk a few block west and take the free staten island ferry. you get a great view of the statue and the city and it's free 🙂

  9. 02.07.2011 / 11:25 am

yay!!! You are going to have so much fun! The food in NY is THE BOMB! I am not ashamed to say that I rate the cities I travel to by the food. Lol! NY obviously has the best shopping on this side of "the pond." Great food + great shopping = the closet you're gonna get to heaven on earth.

I am insanely jealous of everybody who gets to be in NY for Fashion Week! But I will be counting on you guys to keep me up to date on all the fabulousness! 🙂

My older sister lives in Manhattan.. the first time I visited her was shortly after her move. We both wanted to see the Statue of Liberty, but her boyfriend told us it would take a few hours between the ferry ride, lines, etc. We ditched it, went shopping and had an amazing desert at Magnolia's. I can't wait to hear about your trip! Have fun! 🙂

Aaaah, thats so exciting! I would kill to go to NYC for fashion week. I lived in Manhattan for about a year, and I dream of going back every day. Such a great place. And I agree with some of the other commenters – you don't have to ditch the statue of liberty all together, but I would put some of the other things above that on the list. The statue of liberty can take forever and might not be worth it :/. But DEFINITELY do frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity and a cupcake at Magnolia Bakery.

Have an AMAZING time, it's the most wonderful city on Earth. It makes you feel as if all your dreams will come true just by being there. Who am I kidding, me dream WAS to be there.

  14. 02.07.2011 / 6:33 pm

If you don't get to enjoy frozen hot chocolate by yourself, you can buy a souvenir Box there like in just did! And share with hb! It comes with the cup they use, all the fun straws, and two packs of the goooood stuff. Don bother with magnolia bakery unless you're getting the banana pudding, those cupcakes area over rated. Dry and waaaaaaaaay too sweet, and that's saying a lot for me. The statue of liberty will takes hours, but it's a must! Best enjoyed with a friend. Must see museums! I brought back macaroons! Yu HAVE to have one. They will rock your world if made properly. Have an amazing amazing amazing time, where shoes with rubber soles, wear tights or leggings under your pants, and good luck!

Have a safe flight to New York. Make sure you pack your heavy clothing, it is supposed to be cold again soon! I work in Times Square and live an avenue away in Hell's Kitchen. Definitely check out Madison Avenue in the 60s and then the village. They are a world of difference but both have such great shopping!

  17. 02.08.2011 / 12:53 am

Have a blast! Although, I don't have any doubts that you will 🙂 Slightly jealous, but I'm sure I'll make it to NY one day too…

Go to the Forever 21 in Times Square! It's amazing and definitely worth the trip – it's really well laid out and organized, and their stock's great. I just went a few weeks ago and it was kind of a religious experience for me.

Oh wow! your first trip to NYC! I went – once – a few years ago and it was magical!! It was one of those places that really does live up to the hype!! (Paris and Venice are other examples!) You have to try to fit in as much as possible. We were exhausted our whole trip but it was sooooo amazing!! 🙂

Have a fun time and I look forward to reading all about it!!
