Norwegian Leopard

leopard coat (ebay) | zara scarf | lands’ end canvas nordic sweater | saddleback leather satchel | ugg boots | north face hat

…I’m back! How was your New Years? Did you party or stay in??

I am so glad you enjoyed all of my amazing guest bloggers’ posts over the past two weeks–aren’t they a lovely bunch?! If you haven’t checked them all out, please feel free to do so here.

My Christmas and New Year in Norway was an amazing trip, so much to talk about, so much to tell…for now, though, I’m jetlagged and ridiculously, incredibly, harassedly, busy starting a new rotation (Neurology) and being on call today, the first day, when I am already sleep-deprived and my circadian rhythm is on the fritz. I will be doing some Norway-themed posts coming up, but I just wanted to post one of my outfits I wore in Norway and say HELLO and that I missed you all!

Isn’t this coat amazing? I got it on eBay for $17. Yep, $17. It pays to eBay, I tell ya! My Ugg boots sent to me by Shop Bop and my Saddleback Leather satchel kept me company everywhere I went in Norway. Don’t you love my little fur fuzz ball on my bag? I love accessorizing a bag with something unique to make it mine.

On this particular day, and on many others, the temperature was hovering around -24C (that’s like -7F!) and every inch of every branch and bush was covered in frosty white icing. It was a beautiful landscape, and pretty much stole the show, don’t you think?

(Thanks for the lovely photos, HB!)

seriously, the background is so majestically gorgeous, it looks like you're standing in front of a green screen! Welcome back. I'm insanely curious if you're hiding anything special on a finger in your pocket….. 😉

    • 01.04.2011 / 2:36 am

Ahahaha you crack me up….no, nothing other than my usual set of rings. 😉 it seems like everyone and their dog gets engaged on christmas or new year's, though!

  2. 01.03.2011 / 10:57 pm

Love the coat, love the background! I can't wait for more Norway posts! I watched a Norwegian cooking show this weekend and made me so jealous!

    • 01.04.2011 / 2:35 am

No way – you have to tell me what the name of the show is!

we just hung out with the kids at home for the holidays…went to see Tron and out for dinner for new years…very low key

  4. 01.03.2011 / 11:45 pm

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! Your hair looks electric against that unfathomably gorgeous backdrop.

    • 01.04.2011 / 2:34 am

It's so funny you say that, because my hair was incredibly messy and tangled that day….I'm thinking of cutting it all off (well, not all of it off, but a good amount)…just get a fresh start since it's so damaged. What do you think?

      • 01.04.2011 / 4:33 am

Ooooh, I love a makeover! But just so you know, you're hair never looks damaged/tangled/anything other than lovely in your posts. I think your natural wave would look fantastic in a shoulder length bob though, should you decide to go that route.
P.S.-I'm beyond jealous of your coat; I got one at Forever 21 and paid almost double that. To add insult to injury, the first time I forgot to hang it up I came home to find my dog nesting in it 🙂

  5. 01.04.2011 / 12:15 am

It looks so gorgeous there! Love the coat, such a steal! 🙂

Oh wow, the scenery is incredibly gorgeous! You're very lucky 🙂 And I can't believe that coat was only $17! Perfect find 🙂

    • 01.04.2011 / 2:25 am

The scenery definitely stole the show – I think I could have just posted
pics without an outfit and called it Nature's Outfit Post….! 😉

  7. 01.04.2011 / 12:49 am

Beautiful! That scene must have been gorgeous in real life, but just looking at all that snow makes me shiver from cold! Brrrrr!

  8. 01.04.2011 / 1:28 am

Gorrrrrrgeous, lady! Oh my goodness, I love that you look completely chic in the middle of a winter wonderland. Your whole look just warms the place up! Super pretty.

    • 01.04.2011 / 2:26 am

The coat was surprisingly AS warm as my parka (also cheetah print…lol) so
my upper body was totally fine! The legs, though, even with jeans and

long-handled underwear, were not. Cold. Very cold. 🙂

You look lovely!!The title of this made me chuckle because earlier today my friend Stine (who is from Norway) convinced a coworker of mine that she has a pet leopard at home and that it was a rare breed of Norwegian leopard. Perhaps it was you? Haha 🙂

    • 01.04.2011 / 2:27 am

Oh my gosh what a coincidence! Yes, I guess it was me! haha

  11. 01.04.2011 / 1:59 am

Great find on the coat! I add little trinkets to most of my bags too haha.

Haha, I traipsed over here from Kendi Everyday, and the scenery looks GORGEOUS!
(On a side note, I'm studying neuroscience at a university in Dallas and taking my MCAT at the end of January. Eek! I hope–aside from being sleep-deprived–that you are enjoying your rounds!)

    • 01.04.2011 / 5:55 am

Well howdy partner! So glad you stopped by – isn't Kendi the greatest?! Good luck to you on the MCAT – study hard!!! It'll all be worth it in the end, trust me. 🙂

I'm new to the whole world of blogging. I ran across your blog a while back and am hooked. I have a women's clothing store back in the Northwest and am currently trying something new with my love of fashion and running. Kind of a weird combo but heck, why not. Anyway, I love your blog. My store (willows) carries some of items you wear.Keep up the great style.
    Best, Janna

    • 01.04.2011 / 5:56 am

That's just fabulous Janna! Out of curiosity, what kinds of clothes that I wear do you sell?

      01.04.2011 / 6:55 am

We (willows) carry similar things to Shop Bop before they went more high end. I was going back in your archives to see what lines we have or had throughout 13 years in business. We are very casual and mix everything from Michael Stars, EMU boots, Kensie, Joes Jeans, Free People, Wanted, and many more. I will continue to look to see if I can find the brands I recognized on you.

  15. 01.04.2011 / 4:53 am

The background in these photos is so beautiful. I love your coat! I have a similar leopard print coat, but i didn't get nearly as good a price as you did! Good luck on your new rotation!

    • 01.04.2011 / 5:57 am

Fabulous! I'll have to check it out – have you worn it on your blog yet?

You are definitely the opposite of camouflage against the white wonderland! Super fun cold weather outfit. And I really like those Ugg boots… did you have to wear multiple pairs of socks to keep warm? 🙂

    • 01.04.2011 / 6:00 pm

These Ugg boots are actually AMAZINGLY warm, that grey faux fur you see there is lined throughout the inside of the boot. And its not just warm, but amazingly comfortable, like walking in regular Uggs, only easier (I find standard uggs a bit awkward and accident-prone). Only one pair of socks needed, here!

  22. 01.04.2011 / 5:21 pm

These photos are gorgeous! And, I love that leopard coat – too fun!

    • 01.04.2011 / 6:01 pm

Thanks doll! I loved that your post on your blog included a picture of a referee costume as a joke, because I actually own it!! lol

OMG Love!! those pictures are amazing!!

    • 01.04.2011 / 6:01 pm

Thanks Amber! Nature did all the work. And the leopard. But not really. Since it's fake. So yeah…just nature.

  24. 01.04.2011 / 9:27 pm

Ooooh boy. What a wonderful steal. I've snagged two wonderful items from eBay. Really must go there more often. You look stunning in these photos. Norway suits you! How did you possible handle that cold weather?!

    • 01.06.2011 / 11:59 pm

I love cold weather. It must be in the genes!

    • 01.06.2011 / 11:59 pm

Oh, I will be, Anna Jane, I will be! 🙂

  25. 01.04.2011 / 10:59 pm

WOW! Love those!! RT @PrttyShnySprkly: I really love it when nature is so beautiful there's no need for photoshop.

Welcome back! You put my Midwestern winter looks to shame! Lovely.

    • 01.07.2011 / 12:01 am

You suffer through the whole winter when it comes to planning wintery outfits. I had 10 days. I think I had it a little easier than you Natalie! My creativity doesn't run much farther than 10 days, I tell ya!

  28. 01.05.2011 / 9:40 pm

I love your coat!! I haven't ebayed in a while, but I will be logging on tonigh! 🙂

    • 01.07.2011 / 12:02 am

I'm gonna be honest, I eBay for what seems like months at a time before I stumble upon a really good deal like this leopard coat. I tell you what though, if I hadn't been randomly surfing (or searching "leopard coat" like I did 2-3x per week) I never would have found it!

      Happy treasure hunting!

    • 01.08.2011 / 9:28 pm

      That would be MAC. "Impassioned"

  29. 04.19.2011 / 8:17 pm

I am new to you — why were you in Norway for Christmas and New Year's? What part of Norway? I'm asking, well, because I'm Norwegian! 🙂 Love it there, but haven't been back in a few years.
