Nude Attitude

When it comes to lip glosses, I’m not the world’s foremost expert. Heck, I’m probably not even the foremost expert in my zip code. Normally I detest the inevitable hair-strand-entrapment-syndrome that accompanies said application of lip gloss. I also hate the tacky, sticky feeling on one’s lips. But a lot of that has changed recently thanks to brilliant new formulations. Unfortunately, HSES (hair-strand-entrapment-syndrome, do try to keep up) still exists, but we can’t win ’em all, right?

The great thing about nudes is just how all-encompassing the term ‘nude’ really is. It depends on your natural skin shade and undertone. It depends on if your preferred nude leans more cool or warm-toned. I myself prefer a peachy nude to avoid making me look sallow or dead. Here are my favorite neutral-shaded lip glosses (plus one long-wearing matte liquid lipstick for good measure–or possibly because I swatched it thinking it was a lip gloss and realized a little too late that it wasn’t. #truth).

I’m the same, I normally can’t stand lipglosses for the same reasons as yourself! Their poor longevity was always another con for me but I agree new formulations have definitely improved on this! Im definitely more of a peachy nude girl too! Lovely swatches, selection and very clear pictures!

My favorite lip gloss shade and formula is Beige by NYX. I feel it’s a cult favorite. It’s an amazing lipgloss.

I feel like I’m always just swiping on a lipstick, I should give lipgloss a chance. I have used them since Loreal’s Glossique in the 90s:)

I really prefer balm-textured glosses. The new ones from Almay are amazing. They are smooth and shiny, but not goopy shiny.Typically if I’m not doing a balm textured product, and am going for more high fashion, I’m doing a matte lip.

Cracking up over your HSES acronym even thought it is 100% true! I really love the Stila, Revlon, and Benefit colors. Definitely going to have to give them a try! Thanks for sharing.

You forgot to mention creme brûlée butter gloss by NYX. it’s got a cult following and i have a few scattered in important places like my desk at work and my car for “emergencies” 😉

I know, and I totally forgot to include my tube of it as well! I don’t really consider them a nude gloss though since they’re so sheer, even in the nude formulation there’s not much pigmentation to be had. but they’re definitely my favorite formulation of lip gloss

Nice shades. I usually shop abroad (online) due to lackof choice and high prices in my country, I’m often fed up of being shut out of
auctions because the ebay seller does not ship to my country. The same goes for
online retailers who refuse to ship to my destination.

When shopping using BPM, you get reception
addresses all over the world. This makes it possible to buy where you want from
whom you want, regardless of where the seller ships or not.

They combine all your shopping and forward
it to wherever you want. I’m sure there are other such services available,
which you can google, but I’m pretty happy so far so I’ll stick to them. Their
website is in case you’re interested.

In theory, ‘nude’ glosses should be an easy thing to wear but It’s actually tricky to find one that doesn’t make you look like death warmed and that can truly enhance your natural lip colour by making you look, well, ‘natural’ but better (otherwise what’s the point of the product!) Adding to your list, Kristina, I’d like to share some nude ‘glosses’ that I’ve found work so well, you could almost apply them without a mirror:
CLINIQUE – ALMOST LIPSTICK – BLACK HONEY (Its name and seemingly dark shade in the tube are misleading and actually glosses your lips with sheer hint of natural colour that slightly deepens and merges with your own lip colour. It seems to suit all skin shades and there’s no ‘HSES’ with this one as its moisturizing and non-sticky. Black Honey has definitely earned its cult status and is my top choice no matter the season.)
CLINIQUE – CHUBBY STICK – A WHOLE LOTTA A HONEY (Close to ‘Black Honey’ but not as sheer and with a little more pink)
NARS – DOLCE VITA (more of a lipstick rather than a gloss, but still sheer, a neutral brown-pink with orange that suits most skin tones)

I enjoy the sincerity and enthusiasm of your posts and have learned much, even if most of the products you mention and review are not always available here in Europe. From the list you mention, only Revlon and Rimmel are familiar, but regardless, your posts are always so informative. I tend to drop by when I need me some ‘just-girlie-stuff’ time and it’s always fun.

HSES! Finally, someone addressed this issue. LOL I know how tricky it is to find the right nude shade, but it’s so worth the trouble when you find the perfect match. Love using nudes when I want to play up my eyes.

I seriously need to update my collection. I don’t even own any nude-colored lipgloss. Going to have to try out a few of the ones you featured! – Katy

I don’t have a lot of nude gloss so this post is a helpful place to start!
