Reader Chic: Designer Kindle Cases

Chic Designer Kindle 2 Cases

Though I have an iPad, I’ll never abandon my Kindle simply for its size, portability, and the fact that I can read on it for hours (no glare, and I can read it in bright sunlight, with no eye strain). It looks like real ink on paper, but without the grains and texture of paper. One reviewer put it perfectly once, “it’s like the perfect piece of paper, with no flaws, but perfectly legible ink”.

…More importantly for my student budget? The latest bestsellers are no more than $9.99. Always. Yay!

When it comes to designer Kindle cases (all for the current, latest-generation Kindle 2) there is a monopoly (trifecta?) held by the prolific Diane von Furstenberg, Kate Spade, and Cole Haan. Some cost as much as the Kindle itself, so are definitely not for the feint of heart, but are ΓΌber stylish. I know that I’d be quick to pop this out on the bus without hesitation if I owned any of the above cases.

Which one is my favorite? It’s a tie between the perfectly-pink patent Kate Spade, and the signature print DvF at the bottom.

  • Well, those put my boring pink Kindle case to shame! Do any of them have the reading light? That's my case's current saving grace.

    • Unfortunately none of these come with a reading light…although at these prices, it's the very least they could do!

  • Definitely DVF signature print!
But I'm still sticking to good ole' books.

  • Oh my gosh, cases like this make owning a kindle so much more appealing to me! x

  • So chic! I really like the DVF ones

    • Which DvF one is your favorite??

  • I like the pink one!!

  • I've been eyeing the "HELLO" Kate Spade case since December, but now that I've just seen the pink w/ polka dot, I may have changed my mind. I need to find one fast, I've just been throwing it in my bag:(

    • I just love the polka dots, that's what wins me over every time I look at it. The only thing I don't like is the lack of a strap to keep it closed. I'd worry about just tossing it in my bag like that.

  • the Kate Spade ones win it for me! Now I just need to get myself a Kindle!!

  • @TheStyleFile take a look at these adorable Kindle cases!! http://bit.ly/dPB02h

  • i vote for the kate spade in pink =)

  • I adore these cases DVF ones are right up my style alley. I have been playing back and forth with the idea of a Kindle or the Nook but looking at the cases may sway my purchase back in the direction of the Kindle!

<a> Ramblings of a Small Town Girl

    • Go for it, girl! Kindle > Nook

  • I have the iPad already, is getting a Kindle really worth it? I've used the iPad to read sometimes, but basically only download the free books from Amazon and my textbooks!

    • I think it's worth it because it's more like reading a real book, which you should be able to do for hours without eye strain. Not so with the iPad (trust me, I've tried). Something about backlighting causes tons o' strain on the eyes. Plus, Kindle books are more readily available (and I think, cheaper or the same price as iPad books). The technology and format is the gold standard, and iPad books are more of the new kid on the block (unproven, unsure if it will last). Just my $.02

  • I love them all! Now if only I had an iPad to put in them…

    • You mean Kindle, right??? πŸ˜‰

  • Ann

Whatever with reeding n stuf for literary/ate people!

I am only here to comment that your layout skills are dope guuuurl!! Kindle cases never looked so good.
