Updated BB & CC Cream Roundup Part 1

Updated BB & CC Cream Roundup Part 1

Over a year ago, I shared my favorite selection of  newly created category of bases called “BB creams”. Most people were not familiar with BB creams at this point, and many were confused as to what they actually did. Since then, I’ve created a Worst BB Creams post & video, and although I’ve mentioned my favorites since then in a lot of my beauty videos, I had yet to sit down and share my thoughts on the current BB creams on the market, which is vastly different from where it was when I created my first post. Depending on your support/requests, I would be happy to continue this as part of an ongoing series (i.e., a multi-parter that goes beyond parts 1 and 2) if you so wish. Let me know in the comments and cast your vote for more by hitting the Like button below (at the bottom of the post) and the “thumbs up” button within the video player!

Dr. Jart Black Label Detox BB Cream

A lot can be said for my total love for this BB cream. It has amazing coverage, gives a natural skin-like finish to the skin (so it’s perfect for both oily and dry skin types), has SPF and anti-aging properties, and it’s in amazing packaging. The downside? It comes in only the one shade. For shame, Dr. Jart! That being said, it has great coverage if you have light-to-medium skin tones. Dr. Jart makes a whole host of other BB creams, some of which are for darker skin tones, so don’t give up if you’re interested in this brand. Purchase »

Skin79 Super Plus Triple Function BB Cream

Hands down, one of my favorite BB creams of all time. Sadly, one shade, as is typical of Korean BB creams. But this provides the most astounding coverage (medium to full), and I’ve noticed an improvement in my skin’s texture, age spots, and (dare I say it?) acne, since using this product religiously. Purchase »

Lumene Vitamin C BB Cream

Hands down one of my favorite BB creams for those with sensitive or dry skins. Doesn’t work for me since I’m Normal/Combination, but dry/mature skin users will love the dewy effect it gives and blurs fine lines quite dramatically! Purchase »

L’Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream

I’ve mentioned this before (and even on TV), for good reason. It’s a great budget BB cream, and perfect for those who are particular about using their own sunscreen (as this lacks SPF, oddly) or want to use it at night where they’ll be expecting flash photography. While I don’t have any paparazzi on my trail, it’s a nice choice for a light coverage, everyday-wear, especially for those just getting their feet wet in the BB cream arena. The bursting pigment beads are a fun little bonus. Purchase »

Hello. I wanted to know your reviews on the Clinique age defense bb cream if you have tried it. Thank you

  • You have a beautiful blog! I found you through a search for successful blogging tips — they’re great, btw! Going to try to incorporate some of your ideas on my WordPress platform.
What I thought was even cooler was that you’re a physician! I’m a nurse practitioner, myself. It’s inspiring to see someone else from the medical profession finding time, joy, & success with blogging. You go girl!

  • When I was in Japan last fall, I walked past a department store with a huge line outside. I was able to gather that some sort of special skin care line was going on sale, so I held off on my sightseeing to wait (duh!). When I was let in, I had to pantomine to figure out what the products were–the BB cream is my favorite. It’s running low and sadly, I can’t google it to restock because I have NO idea what the characters mean!

  • Have you tried Bobbi Brown’s? I’ve been thinking about giving that a whirl!

  • I never knew about spf giving a a white effect when a flash from a camera hits it! Interesting!

  • I love the Dr. Jart Black Label BB Cream! I have light skin as well but it still works perfectly for me! I noticed at Sephora that they have the travel size now which is great to put in your beach bag or purse! Thanks for sharing these – I might have to try the skin 79 one next :)Jonna

  • In my opinion the best BB cream ( for me anyway) so far is the Aveeno clear complexion spf 30!…what do you guys think? 🙂

It’s kind of confusing about which cream is the best. I think I’ll try the Skin79 cream. Anyone tried Erborian?

  • I have the BB cream from L’Oreal and I love it:)

I’ve tried a lot of bb and cc creams on the market and have never really been happy with any of them. I finally fell in love with Shiseido Sun Protection Stick Foundation and decided to forgo these others.
