Being Texan is just something that's bred. Like DNA carries my genetic code, Texan pride runs through my veins.

Naturally, this is accompanied by a healthy appreciation for Lucchese boots, line-dancing, and country music.

My all-time favorite song to line-dance to is "Boot Scootin' Boogie" by the legendary Brooks & Dunn. When I sat down to write this post (still in my boots), my mind wandered to that good ol' line dance, and I wondered if I could find a YouTube video to share with those of you foreigners (read: non-Texans).

But as I browsed the alarmingly large amount of videos dedicated to mastering the Boot Scootin' Boogie, I realized none of them were the version I dance.

Was I doing it wrong? I adapt to the people's moves around me (you sort of have to, unless you want to be elbowed or kicked), so has it been the blind leading the blind?

Finally, I found it.

A crude little home video of some down-home peeps dancing it exactly the way I have done it all my life. It's so versatile, and I like it because it has much more movement with the boot-slappin' than just shimmying. Here it is.

Here's what it actually looks like in a bar. And here's what I aspire to do--it's here in Houston, a coincidence, and I've been to that very same bar!

If your buttcheeks don't start rhythmically moving to the beat, there's probably something seriously wrong with you. You should get that checked out.

I have to say this is my first romper, and what a great romper to get your feet wet with (not literally, although technically, you could). It's light, airy, ripply, floral, and it fits like a glove--but not uncomfortably so. On the contrary, it's super comfy, and I feel like it lives up to its name: it makes me want to romp around in it all day, every day. Perhaps I shall.

The boots are my pride and joy Lucchese's in Mad Dog Goat. Handmade, and an absolute legend in boots. If Texans had a coming-of-age ritual, it would probably be signified by a first pair of Lucchese boots. Okay, not really, since they're quite expensive, and it might take a 13-year-old seven years' allowance for these babies. It didn't take me quite that long, but only quite.

ew! a mosquito!

Mosquito, or spaz? It's anyone's guess.
