Poetry in Motion

Being back home after three days in NYC for fashion blog conferences galore is like waking up from a dream. Instead of temperatures hovering in the twenties, we enjoyed a crisp day in the 60's and a sun that warmed our backs as we walked. The past week has been so amazing - meeting wonderful people in real life (like Joan Rivers, my favorite blog peeps, and readers like YOU) was definitely the highlight.

I'm sad that I had to leave Evolving Influence early to catch my flight...I heard the boys of Proenza Schouler were amazing. I hope you were able to catch the conference on livestream - I really enjoyed reading your tweets of support after I finally sat down (1.5 hours of moderating a panel makes for tired legs and sore feet--even in the new Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony platforms). How weird is it that I barely took any pictures in NYC?! Part of me didn't want to look too much like a tourist, and another part of me didn't want to lug my camera around and risk getting mugged.

So, unfortunately, I have no NYC outfit photos for you - terrible, I know, but with all the picture taking with others, I didn't find the time to take proper outfit photos! Fortunately the lovely people of Vogue Nippon shot my IFB outfit (which consisted of an alice + olivia sequined top, ivory cuffed high waisted pants by American Apparel, and Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony platforms) so maybe I'll spot it somewhere on the internet or in print.

Big shout-out to my little brother Lukas for taking these outfit photos!!

This Mink Pink top was one of the several pieces I brought to New York that didn't make the cut thanks to the frigid weather. I love it so much though, and it's perfect for spring days and will transition well to summer and fall. HB calls it a "pirate shirt" and although he has a point, I think the pink would thwart the eye-patch-wearing sailors, don't you?

These Forever 21 platforms mimic the coveted Miu Miu platforms and I love their almost butterfly-like detail on the arches. I love a good, cheap, knockoff!
